Want some advice...Now on sony style
I can build a VGN-SZ340 with the same specs as a 390 for $600 less.

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7200 / ICD 2 GHz
    2 GB DDR-SDRAM (DDR2-533, 1 GBx2)
    100 GB Hard Disk Drive
So whats the difference besides the type of carbon? And is it really worth the $600?

Should I just go for SONY VGN-SZ260P/C for 1500 on JR.com?
Intel Core Duo Processor (1.83 GHz)
    120GB SATA Hard Drive

Basically I just want some general advice to persuade me one way. I could look at my new laptop as a way to do some school work on the go and keep it cheaper. or I could think of it as my new machine to use all the time.
So, Should I just go all out and get the best? Or just go budget and consider it as a way to work on the go and not a powerhouse machine?

I really like the all black look, but is it really worth the extra money?

Also should I be concerned about his electrical problem I keep reading about? Has sony fixed this yet?

sorry for the rambling can't really organize this

The premium models have a carbon fiber case and thus are a bit lighter and they also have a significantly better screen.

If these features worth the price difference to you then get a premium model. If not, then don’t.

    Nope.

The issue is a function of improper grounding on the part of the power brick, not the computer itself.

As a former 340 owner, I'll say that the screen on my 360 is much, much nicer than my 340. I also had a ton of problems with the actual construction of my 340 ----- the keyboard wasn't mounted very well (especially compared to the keyboard of my 360), the LCD screen made an annoying buzzing sound whenever the screen was set to anything other than max brightness (or was on battery power).

I don't know ---- I feel like the build quality of the 360 is epically better than the build quality of my 340. If you can afford the premium model, I would very much suggest going for it. It may have turned out that I just got unlucky with the construction of my CTO VAIO but, from my experience, I would recommend against going with the build-your-own version.

Besides, the premium models are waaay sexier than the non-premium builds. :)

LowFront, I am very close but still not ready to "Click-It".

JR.com price is very nice for specs and if interested in Cingular WAN 270P/C at amazon.com is $1675 (after $125 rebate).

Haven't tried to configure @sonystyle but the tax kills that deal for me (I assume sonystyle.com charges sales tax). Let me know what you decide to get since I think we are in a similar situation.

I am leaning towards the SZ260P/C for $85 dollars less (the antenna might get in the way).
