    Glowing Brightness on Screen Sides of Vaio Z12

    There seem to be slight bright glows that can be noticed along the sides of the screen when it is either really dark or black.

    Is this normal on Laptops, LCDs, or the Z?

    Has anyone else noticed this?

    The phenomemon is called light-bleed. You are talking about bright white light when the screen is displaying complete black (or some other dark colour)?

    That is normal, but some screens suffer from it worse than others (despite being the same screen). My previous screen on the VGN-Z had very little light bleed. I had it replaced under warranty, and the new screen has quite a bit more bleed than the older one.

    I guess it depends on how bad it is considering everyone's preference is different, but there are some screens that have rather excessive bleeding, in which case you can ask for a replacement laptop I think (in the States that is). There was a fellow here a few years back who did with his VGN-Z. You might have better luck with the search in the bar above...
