I've been looking at this page wondering if I should buy it and have one day shipping with Amazon Prime. I was gonna wait till the TT to decided but it looked like Sony beat it down with an ugly stick so Imma get a Z and a netbook to satisfy my ultraportable needs probably a Lenovo S10 or Samsung N10.

Or should I get the Z520 comes with the 2.26GHz processor as oppose to the 2.4GHz 2GB of ram and 120GB HDD for 1650. Is the much of a diffrence from 2.26 to 2.4?

I don't think the speed difference will be noticeable.

My z520 came with 3gb ram and I would take the extra 1 gig over the speed any day.

yep, I bought it for 1999 initially, but i was able to get the price-match on the most recent price drop, so it ended costing only 1629.

best laptop i've ever owned and I've owned plenty (sony, ibm, dells, I've owned them all).

Only negative for me is the slightly loud fan, but every other positive outweighs the only negative. Screen, speed, hybrid graphics, great keyboard, weight, build quality, etc...

I have a TZ. The TZ fan isn't silent, at least to me. If you think the TZ fan is silent then you'll have no issues with the Z fan because it only runs slighty louder than the TZ.

The Z fan is not loud at all. I'm not sure what you guys are doing. With the 2.53GHz processor, it's pretty darn silent. Way more quiet than either G I owned (which at times sounded like it was taking off when it was doing a lot of processing) and the SZ.

Its subjective. Whats loud to me is quiet to you.

Well, again, it's also going to depend on what you're doing. If you're stressing a lower GHz processor with a task whereas a higher one may not be ... who knows.

It isn't completely subjective as I've had a lot of laptops over the years. Both Zs I have owned (returned one) are the quietest I've ever used, period.
