O yeh! it has all the pictures/diagrams and step by step instructions to completely take the laptop apart and how to put it back in great detail.
So anyone want me to look up something in it?

I would really appreciate it if you could post/scan the instructions on how to take apart the computer (especially to get to the motherboard).

-
if you find me the TT one, I am sending you a gift cert! I hope they are like the UX ones, with the exact procedure, otherwise I know how to open a TT already.... but procedurally, it will save me few bucks if I tear something the next time around
-

-
Thank you very much for the link
Much appreciated. Im upgrading my Vaio Z with:
- X9100 3.06GHz Extreme Edition CPU
- Kingston HyperX low-latency DDR3 SODIMM 4GB
- Solidata X1 SSD 32GB (currently the fastest 240MB/s read, 220MB/s write SSD)

It will be an adventure to crank it open, get all the parts in and pray everything will still work -
Link on Vaio Z Repair Manual doesnt exist, send me on [email protected] please! Thank you!

Yeah I think the link is dead can you upload it somewhere else, its great to know that theres a repair manual for the z series out there. Thanks

Firestone, thanks for hosting it, I was about to do the same but you beat me to it.
-
I see the DC and Power caps are very easy to replace. Does anyone know if they can be easily bought. Mine are both starting to lose paint
-
man...i was really excited to get this manual, but the one i had from Dell was WAY more detailed, had real pictures of everything, and even detailed descriptions of each step. Nonetheless, thanks to JJ and Firestone for the links! they will come in handy soon!
-
A download it, thx!
I view it and this is Chapter 1. What is Chapter 2,3...? Have anyone it? -
I have the Z540-EEB which is, i think, the only one w/o a sprint evdo card (US models). Was wondering if one can be added, if an antenna exists, etc. Thanks. *Can't d/l yet as im at work and blocked,.

China has blocked 4shared, so that I cannot download the repair guide. Could anyone send this guide to my e-mail box:[email protected]
Many thanks -
@talldog
Are you shure your email account can handle 10mb attachment? If yes it will be a great pleasure to help you. -

hi guys
here is the link -
Wonderful! Thanks pardes3!
-
This is great, thanks a lot for sharing!
Two questions:
- Has anyone tried to replace the keyboard from the original Z with a backlit keyboard from the new Z?
- Same question for the screen, has anyon tried to replace the 1600x900 by a 1920x1080?
Cheers! -
-
i don't think the new keyboard will work with the old Z. the blacklit is dependent on the light sensor, which is not available at the old Z.
-
-
no idea.
the thing is that sony sell the keyboard and the aluminium piece as a full set, which cost about $300 (for the old Z).
this might conclude that there are more differences in physical structures as well. -
Thanks. At $300 it's not worth it for me anyway, so I'll give up on th idea (or upgrade the whole laptop later down the line).
-
I have the 1366x768 (z610y) version and was thinking about upgrading to the 1600x900 screen, but if the 1920x1080 screen would work that would be even better. -
hello sir, i have a problem.
am getting operating system not found on my laptop.
please give me any solution... -
It is best to start a new thread about your problem as this thread is about the VGN Z manual.

This disassembly guide says it is for the below-listed models. I would like to replace the HDD in my Vaio Z820G with a SSD. By looking at the models the guide explicitly says it *does* cover, does anyone know if the guide will apply equally as well to my model, the Z820?
Thank you!

As long as it's VGN-Z, it would cover all models...

The above links appeared to be dead, any one that can send me the manual, or a link to it?
With kind regards,
Bart -
THE 4shared link that Firestone posted is still active. I just tried it and downloaded it. It's linked to in this thread and also in the pinned disassembly thread.
-
please someone post this again !! The link is gone
-
Does this disassembly guide apply to the Vaio Z21MN/B?
If so re-up appreciated.
Good News: I have got hold of the "official" Vaio Z Repair Manual!!!
