Hi all. Stopping in NY next Monday for a shopping spree, courtesy of the exchange rate 'discount' us europeans can get. Is there any store that has many Sony laptops on the floor, where I can check them out and play with them before buying a couple, and with decent prices? I know I can head to a Best Buy, just wondering if there is a better place.
Thanks all!

There's a Sony Style store on Madison and 57th street that's pretty cool for checking out everything Sony. J&R in Lower Manhattan, near to where the Trade Centers were, is a decent place for finding Sony notebooks at okay prices as well www.jandr.com. Of course there are Best Buy and Circuit City sprinkled around the city as well.
Enjoy the trip, welcome! -
definitely go to the sony outlets for any type of deals

Yes, they have a great SonyStyle store there, I checked it out last month when I was there on vacation, they had all the models to try out, thats where I first saw the TZ myself. Plenty of other electronics as well, really nice store in my opinion. Much better than the one here at least. : )

Thanks guys. What is the tax rate in NY by the way?
-
around 8-8.5 percent

How about looking through the laptop that you want and then ordering from an out-of-state authorized Sony reseller like P1?! You could have it shipped to your hotel (maybe).
Then you'll save on the tax rate. Although even with the sales tax, its a bargain and the Euro keeps pounding USD.

Yeah you gotta get it before the euro gets cheap again. (I hope its soon
)
i want to go to europe! -
Just staying in NY for a day, so impossible. Yeah, sucks paying that 8% but... I think I can get it back at the airport? With the receipt, being a foreigner, IIRC they redeem your tax.
