Good deal? SZ-270P (premium) $1799 + $150 rebate

I ordered one, but there has to be a catch.

$1799 for a $2500 model normally?
I know it's being phased out, but seriously, that' s a ridiculous deal and it has a $150 rebate that expires 9/12.

I ordered today, but do I qualify for the rebate??
My order shows ship date 9/18.

The only potential snag is that it's not in stock right now, so I am not sure if the rebate will work. I technically purchased it today, 9/12, which is the last day of the rebate. I hope it works.

Something is fishy b/c the SZ230, a non-premium model, is still $1849 or so.

I also wonder how the rules are with that rebate, I tried to apply for it, but it said that it was invalid since the order hadnt been shipped yet.

 

Even without the rebate, it's still quite a bit cheaper than the latest pricegrabber results are showing.

I actually just picked this computer up from fry's $2089 open box. Needless to say, I'm going to return it once the Amazon comes in. I don't like to play it that way, but dear goodness, the price is like a $400 swing if not more. I love this computer so much. The screen really is leagues above other screens out there, and it may be slightly fragile, but it is so light and nothing out there compares to it at the moment. I can take it anywhere, and the keyboard is a full sized one and there is no compromise on performance.

I ordered mine from Amazon a couple of days ago at $2249.00 (after a $150 rebate). I received it today.

When I saw the new price of $1649.00 after $150 rebate on the site, I flipped. I called Amazon and they immediately credited my credit card $600.

Gotta love that price when I was willing to pay full pop!

 

I just got answer to the email I send to Amazon. I will get the rebate even if it expires today. So this is looking very good.

They are out of stock of them and it has been delaid even more.

yeah amazon raised their price on the 270p as well. so I don't know if we'll get the original price that we ordered at, either.

I almost think this might be the way to go... Settle for a slower Core Duo chip now at a big discount. Then in a year or so, upgrade the notebook to a faster Core 2 Duo. Prices of those chips should drop significantly by then and there should be even faster chips out as well. Plus, there will probably be lots of good guides on exactly how to upgrade (bios, hardware, etc.) You could probably get a 3Ghz chip for about $400 and drop it in your notebook and feel like you have a brand new computer in a year.

Amazon deal is real. Mine is ready for shipping and I had credit card problems, too. So if you ordered it, it may well have shipped and the price seems like it is lowered again to $1650? For all of amazon's trouble they gave me free 2 day shipping, which ain't something to sneeze at. $20 value?
They are nice, and I hope I like the computer.....if it has dead pixels....that is what will annoy me. I will return it.

I received my SZ-270p/c from Amazon today. It is in perfect condition.

Great deal. Premium is definitely worth it and the screen is noticeably brighter and it's lighter.

 

Do you feel the screen is weaken when open the lid, as some people in the forum has complained.

 

so this model doesn't come with the external antenna, right?

 

this model has the antenna.

 

Personally, I found the Premium lids a little more wobbly, but I don't think it is anything to worry about with a little TLC.
