So was looking at the Sony S260P and found that Amazon has them for around for 1950, less a combined total of $250 in rebates.

Would I then also be able to use the $400 trade up program offered by Sony? This would bring the price down to around 1300, plus tax and shipping.

That seems to be a great deal for this machine, even if it is consumer oriented.

You will need to read the details of the trade up program, it is probably on Sony's site somewhere. Usually with manufacturer trade up offers, they are done buy purchasing directly from the manufacturer, not thee retailers, and I'm not sure if you can combine rebates with it as well.

With this trade up program, Sony does allow you to purchase through select resellers. However, Sony isn't clear on which reseller they sanction in the PDF file on their site. The best bet is to send an email to contact them directly and make sure Amazon is one of the partner reseller.

On the other hand, I think I saw somewhere is selling S260P (maybe S260) for $1600. Make sure you check around all the reputable resellers then include all of them in the email to check which one qualifies for the trade-up.

Thanks for the clarification. I know there are experts at this kind of deal making, but I never seem to get it right... reason for my asking.

If Rocketmaster is right, you can buy S260P anywhere you like. Of course, sending in an email to confirm wouldn't hurt.[ :D] Good luck.
