    hey everyone,

so my Sony Vaio-Z motherboard recently died and i sent it to Sony Switzerland for repair. unfortunately, because everything is expensive here in Switzerland and coupled with the Sony Tax, the repair would've cost me 2,300 CHF or around 2,000$ at least..... so i decided not to have them replace the motherboard.

does anyone have any suggestions on reliable and decently priced international laptop repair shops/sites that would change a Sony Vaio motherboard?

if worst comes to worst.. i can always bring it to China when i go for holidays and have the local technicians replace a motherboard. the only issue i have with this is that sometimes they see that it's a European model and might actually switch it with a crappier local model or use fake/incompatible motherboards for the repair :/

any suggestions would be welcome!! :)

Yes, they can replace defective motherboards. If you wanted a new motherboard they could source that for you possibly from Sony direct or possibly elsewhere. They sourced for me a WWAN part from Sony in the UK.

If you buy the motherboard, i'm not sure what Z you actually own but i'm guessing it is probably a VGN Z. You would pay for the auction and then pay a nominal amount for fitting.

He's done some pretty major jobs for me, soldering work on a TX and soldering work on a Fujistu P7230. They also fitted my TT WWAN for me in my bezel and fitted my HDMI port. They also applied fresh thermal compound for me.
Some jobs like the TX work was quite expensive but my insurance covered it. The work where i bought a part of him and he fitted it was much cheaper.

Sounds like you mod quite often your laptops :p
Thanks for the tip, I'll contact the guy and ask him to give me an approximate quote.

Btw, the jobs that you've given them. Do you send your laptop to them and do they return them in good condition? I mean, Sony repair sent back my vaio with scratches :(

I dnt wanna have to repeat the process with these guys

My laptop has never been scratched. If you're worried you could always ask them to please be careful with it.
