180 is gone. The 280 will feature a larger hardrive (not flashdirive) and hardware spcs that will make it even easier to upgrade to Vista.
The Sony rep said the new units will be announced on Setpember 19th.

Yup, there are basically 3 differences from the UX180 to the UX280 - 1GB RAM, 40GB HD and now the whole unit is a black color to match the dock.
-
You can already get the UX with a 60GB HDD from importers.
Sony in Japan is offering the UX with the 40GB natively.
If the 1GB of RAM is true, that is the only difference now that matters. -
-
Yup I'm sure. This is definitly going to happen, as Sony want's to be able to put "VISTA Premium Ready" on most all of their notebooks, and the 1GB RAM is essential to that fact.
-
too bad no flash ram. I saw the sucker boot up with flashram and woah its fast.
-
Does the UX come with an external optical drive?
-
The UX does not come with an external optical drive since it is a $400 device.
I have the flash disk version of UX90. I think I've got used to it and I don't feel the speed anymore.
Goodbye UX180, Hello UX280
