I bought one from Amazon 2 months ago, but it did not have blu ray (Z550). I ordered the blu ray version Z590 from Sonystyle and received it today. As compared to Z550, Z590 is made in USA![]()

I thought all non-customized version are made in Japan, but apparently if you get the blu ray one, even if it's not customized, it's still made in the USA.
Someone opened the box before, because there are fingerprints on the screen, and the tape had been broken (with a new one on top of it)
My Z550 (Made in Japan) did not have the express card slot issue, and I can pushed it in, and it will restore to the original position. The Z590 (Made in USA)'s express card slot cover does not restore to the original position. This is annoying!! Also it seems that the technician opened up the machine and put the blu ray drive in, the alignment between plates is scratched...![]()

I followed the adivise given by most people on the forum "Don't buy customized machine because it's made in USA and sony technician **** things up"
Mine is not even customized but I guess getting Blu Ray drive = customization since all the machine only came with DVD originally.

express card issue is there in japan made versions as well. I have it in my Z570. Sony replaced the bottom housing with a new one, but the new one also has the same issue.
-
Mine is not customized. I bought from PCNation and it say Made In USA.
-
It did not happen to my Z550...
-
The only pre-config model as of now with blu-ray is the VGN-Z591U/B. That is "Made In Japan." -
chong, does your z have the express card slot issue?
-
The 2 Z590 that i owned didnt have this issue
-
My Z550 did not have this issue at all, that's weird. -
I have a asia pacific version z16GNB
and i have the issue too! -
Just poke it harder and it will bounce back. I personally find the port replicator door that opens easily and is hard to close to be much more annoying.
-
I dont even time to check out my Z much yet. I got it 2 days ago and I come home late everyday from work.
I dont have anything to test with on the express card. I do have a PCMCIA but that does not fit. How to test it? -
Don't need an actual express card. Just use your finger to press it in, see if the dust cover will return to its original location.
-
My recent Sony SR was a CTO and it came perfect...every company has quality control and at times you will have issues.
-
Don't worry about the XpressCard cover.
Mine at first cannot cover tighly at first, after you use this slot for a while (I swarp between the cards 3 or 4 times a week) it will cover good.
Got my Z today, express card slot issue
