I agonized for a couple of weeks on which new laptop to buy, and I finally decided to order a Sony F1290X. A big part of the reason is that they seem to have a very good initial build quality compared to most brands. So I configured it and received it through sonystyle.com. Arrived 3 days ago, and I've been busily installing and configuring stuff since then.

This morning while just surfing the net, the screen went green. I can see through it and the computer still works fine. It's almost like looking through a green screen door, except the lines are only vertical. After searching the Sony sites, it looks like it may be another of the problems with the NVIDIA chips or maybe just a bad LCD screen.

Called Sony and they could not get it to go away, even appears in the bios screen. Said they'd send a technician in a few days, but I think I'm just going to return it. Kind of frustrating to have these issues with a brand new, 2 thousand plus dollar laptop. And frustrating since this is THE reason I went with Sony over other brands, to avoid this very type of issue. :mad2:
