Now that I can finally order my Japanese Z12 I'm wondering if I should get the HDD version and replace it at a later date with a SSD/Hybrid or just get the 256Gb / DVD version ?
I don't really use DVDs but I wondering how good is the Sony SSD compared to Samsung SSD like the MMD0E56G5MXP-0VB ?
Cost for a 256/DVD is about 60,000 JPY about 660 USD (so it's about the same as a 256Gb SSD)
Strangely it seems that you can buy a 256Gb/DVD Hong Kong version for 20,980 HKD (245,000 JPY) but the JP version will cost 286,000 JPY
But the HK one only has one year warranty JP has three years
Sony VAIO VPCZ128GG - Sonystyle.com.hk
I'm located in Tokyo so I think the JP one is best with the 3 year warranty however the HK is tempting

You should get 256 ssd model from beginning
sony has proprietary cable to connect those 4 raided ssds, so you wont be able to buy your own one to replace it later.
as for hk, i was trying to buy z11 model in hk for a long time, however it was sold out for most of the time i was supposed to be on sale - i guess it will be difficult to buy z12 too. and it only starts selling in hk in mid of july, whereas if you book it now on sonystyle, you probably get it by end of june.
HDD or SSD with DVD and JP and HK prices
