I've recently clean installed vista on my Vaio TZ, got everything to work apart from 2 things:

HDD protection. I cant get HDD to work in vista SP1. I've installed the driver (after installing the DLLs utilities , but when I double cllick the HDD in Vaio Control Center, I dont get any response. In Vaio status monitor it shows 'Error' for HDD protection. Am I missing a software to control it? I cant seem to find it anywhere. I've tried US, UK, sony-asia, and also extracted the MOD files from my recovery discs. Still cant find any HDD protection software to control the driver.

The other strange one is when i click 'setting for behavior when opening the lcd screen' in control center, I get a 'Can't launch' error. I dont think I need the function, but its bugging me as to why doesnt it work.

Also, can anyone explain what these strange drivers do?:
    Appmon utility
EHCI Bus Reset Registry Patch 1.0A - 1.0
    Windows Image File Mini-Filter Driver 6.0 - 6.0.6000.16386

    Forgot to add, the
    VAIO® HDD Protection Software
    SOAHDD-12845600-US.EXE
    Version : 2.1.00.15140

from the US site wont install on my TZ36GN, so I'm out of luck there.
    thanks

An update. I finally got it working after another 2 hrs of trial and error. re-installed Sony_Notebook Utilities_SOAOTH-44700000-US from the US site and got those 2 functions to work.

All is good. For anyone doing a fresh install of TZ36/37 (australian model) make sure you install that file to get HDD protection. I still dont see why the Aust. version dont have the software on their asian-pacific site, nor the recovery disk and original drivers.
