Trying to connect my Vaio laptop to my Panasonic TC-L42U25 LCD flat screen TV via HDMI to HDMI. First time I hooked it to HDMI port 3 on the TV, laptop was displayed no problems. Went to use it again. No go. Tried everything I can think of. Any help would be much appreciated.

    TIA - Brian

Try toggling the display out setting. It should be something like Fn+F7. what model vaio do you have?

I have the VGN-FW250J. Not sure what you mean by toggling the output? When I hit fn & F7 it brings up a window that says LCD or setup. I went into setup and it doesn't have anything under the external display section. Is there a way to test the HDMI port?

Are you already on the correct HDMI channel on your TV?

Yep, on the right input on the TV.TV has three HDMI prts. One is used for HD box the other two are open. I have tried all three. I also swapped the HD box to all three and it works on all of them. Does anybody know of a way to test the HDMI port on my laptop? I would assume if I am not seeing the "HDMI" when I toggle F7 there is a problem on the laptop side?

Are you using a vaio with hybrid graphics? If so, make sure you're on the speed setting (don't think the integrated graphics does HDMI, but I may be wrong).

I am using a tested HDMI cable. Hybrid graphics? I'm not sure about this one? How do I determine if I am? Also, if so how do I get into the setting to change the speed?

    Thanks guys - Brian

Hey, sorry I replied in haste without checking out your model specs. Disregard what I said regarding "hybrid" graphics.

If I were you, I might try driving an external monitor with the VGA output. I'm assuming the way you change displays via the control panel (or Fn F7) is the same for VGA and HDMI. You should also check that the display driver is updated and there are no errors (go to device manager).

    Good luck.

This probably seems obvious, but did you try it on another HDTV? Someone you know must have an HDTV with HDMI that's working fine, just bring your laptop over there, hook it up with their cable, if it works then you know it's either your tv or your cable, then try hooking it up to their tv with your cable, if it's still working fine, you know it's your tv. Reverse the process to determine if its your laptop. Hope that helps!
