Can anyone help me - - got 2 problems:

    1. When i turn on my sony viao VGN-S2HP(GB) laptop, the green light comes on, i hear some sounds near the dvd area, and then nothing happens.
After turning it on and off for about 20 times, it occasionally boots up - and then the VAIO logo etc come on.

    2. When its on, suddenly it mite crash - sometimes shows a blue screen - and then when i restart it ( and it works) - i get a message saying ' serious error with your Mobility Radeon VIdeo Driver 9200'.

This is driving me mad, cos i dont know how the hell to resolve either issue....any ideas???

    Pleas help!!

Have you made any changes to your system recently?

It also sounds like it might be your GPU has burned out. Have you been keeping your fan clean?

The cooling guide is an excellent source of information for keeping your system cool/cleaning the fan.

Please read through the cooling guide for the answer to that question. It also depends on how fast the computer gets dusty. I usually try to do mine more than every other month.

I bet you probably burnt your video card. That's my guess.

Based on what you said about the power-on issues, I dont think it has anything to do with the hard drive or the software (drivers), but probably the hardware components.

You didn't do any hardware modifications or anything to the laptop right? Did this all happen all of a sudden? I'm pretty positive it's the graphics card burning out.

No panic! I have the same problem with my VAIO VGN-S2HP.
When i turn it on, I only have a black screen, Power on lignt and battery light on, a few activity of Hard-drive and dvd, then nothing. It only starts at the fifth or twentieth try!

I have found an explanation on this website :
    http:\\www.aqstech.com/vaio3.html

This problem seems to be recurent on sony's laptops!

Thats exactly what happened to my SZ260.
I thought it was the HDD and sony try to tell me it was the non Sony memory.
Anyway it was fixed by replacing the MB and something called heat shield tape (thats what it said on the repair sheet).
