    Hello all,

I bought a sony F1190X in march (configured to order from sony website). Around June I decided it was time to lose all the sony crap and do a fresh install. I bought an OEM of Win 7 pro 64bit from newegg, and formatted and installed. (Win 7 64 bit pro is what came on the laptop from sony as well).

After a fresh install, and installing drivers in the order made provided by sonys website, all drivers install except the wireless adapter. It is (supposed to be) an Intel Centrino Advanced N 6200 adapter.

    I have tried:

    a) installing sony drivers.

    b) installing drivers directly from intel

    c) I have gotten sony support logged into my computer to try and resolve the issue

    d) reformatted again, and installed all drivers in a different order (provided by a DIFFERENT sony rep)

    e) installing drivers from standard list in windows (from device manager).

    f) just to cover my bases, I also tried installing the atheros drivers that many F1190X owners have in their computer

    g) I have played with every order and every driver I can get my hands on. I have installed the shared library numerous times, and I have reformatted / reinstalled windows at least 5 times. Every time I do, I try and install everything in a different order.

Both the sony supplied driver for the Intel 6200 card, and the intel supplied driver, AND the windows driver all install "successfully" however, when I return to device manager, there is still a yellow exclamation point next to an unknown hardware (listed as Network Controller).

Can anyone help me? I am frustrated but I feel like the answer is just somewhere I am not looking. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

PS - I have searched this forum extensively (including reading almost the entire F series owners thread) so I apologize if the answer is already somewhere else.

    You sir, deserve a medal.

I downloaded the driver you listed, installed it, disabled my wired ethernet controller in device manager, and instantly had wireless networks available.

    AWESOME!

I have been trying to fix this since JUNE! ( I gave up and bought a netgear usb adapter a while back, but it just broke...hence trying to get this to work again).

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

EDIT: Added rep to you as well. Thanks again!

You can also figure out the hardward by grabbing the Hardware Id's from device manager and doing an internet search.

Its funny that you say that because the night before I posted my problem here I took off all of the panels that are meant to be taken off and looked for it. Then swiftly realized I would have to take the whole bottom off (and maybe break the warrany, i wasn't sure) to find out if it was really an Intel card. SOOOO, I thought, before doing that, I should try one more thing and post on the forums. Then you fixed me up! Im sitting on my back porch looking at the view of the lake I live on enjoying a nice sunny friday afternoon, with my laptop, thanks to you!
