My computer started crashing... randomly. It then worked again, and it said there was a problem with the ATI driver. So i tried to update it manually from the ATI site. That wasnt good... so i went in safemode and uninstalled the driver completely, then restarted... which is where im at. I am on the computer now, and it works until i allow windows to automatically doiwnload the ATI drivers at startup. So basically it reinstalled again and i clicked restart later so i can use my computer for now. But last time i restarted after windows installing the driver, it wouldnt load windows again...

so its clearly a driver problem... anyone have any ideas?

Try uninstalling the driver completely, then downloading the ATI driver from the Sony Support website and installing that one? If you install from ATI directly, you'd be installing the desktop drivers, and if you don't mod them with mobility modder, they might cause problems.

Have you tried using the one from Sony's web site??
You don't need those discs.. it's on the web site
I tried it and it worked on my SR
the one from ATI's web site won't work on laptops..
If it doesn't work, maybe you should try reinstalling the windows??
Make recovery discs using the recovery program that came with the laptop, and set the laptop back to its default state..
It kinda sounds like a faulty graphic card to me..
