soon i'll be heading off to college and i can't decide which vaio i should choose... CR or FZ?

i'm not really into gaming or anything, however, planning to play starcraft 2 when it comes out. which i think Geforce 8400GS and intel x3100 can handle.

also i'm concerning about comfort about typing. some threads are saying FZ is not comfortable and CR is comfortable. then i'll be thinking of screen size... comparing 14.1 and 15.4 is there huge difference?

    little help ?? :(

^^The FZ acually has an 8400m gt, and is quite light for a 15.4"(5.75 lbs). As far as typing goes, I couldn't tel you.

I Have CR14GN which has ati x2300 which is very good as far as gfx performace compared to intel gfx.

CR is a great laptop, i think the only thing i did not like was its weight, quite bulky..

The screen size is a person choice really, some prefer small and some prefer large, also depends on your usage.

    You mean X3100?

I love my CR - the FZ is too large for me.

I prefer the FZ. to be honest, I think they're both large and both a hassle to carry around often. but at least on the desk.. I prefer the FZ's screen and better video card more. If I wanted more portability, I'd opt for the SZ (there's a few cheaper ones out thta dont have LED).

However yeah, I do like the CR's keyboard, I wish the SZ and FZ use it. But the FZ's keyboard is more enjoyable than the SZ imho. its not great, but you'll get used to it quickly.

The FZ is just about as portable as a 14.1", that's why I went with it even though I was looking for a 14.1".

My CR's screen is spectacular. I think the NBR Review on the CR agrees.

And I don't think the vertical angles are as bad as they say.

the CR is barely smaller than the FZ. The CR is FAT for its size and it is bulky esp for an LED screened laptop. The CR has a nicer keyboard but there is still nothing wrong with the FZs keyboard. The FZ has a better graphics card, all you can have on the CR is integrated with no hdmi out.

I chose the FZ. I got a kickass FZ for $50 less than a base CR.

I have what is considered to be the "inferior" FZ140 and I still chose it over the CR

Does anyone really use their Blu-Ray drive for Blu-Ray purposes?

CR190 has Bluetooth, more than enough GPU power for everyday applications, isn't that large and has a great screen.

On top of that, it looks better, has media controls accessible when the notebook is closed, has a much better keyboard, a working InstantON mode and sturdy build quality.

The Fz has a annoyingly small touchpad and the click buttons are hard to press. I am still training myself to get used to it. The touchpad is also sluggish and non-responsive sometimes. Alps pointing device, which FZ uses sucks big time.

good call, you should have got the 100 gig hard drive though. It is free. All you do is swap the 80 gig for the 100 and it doesnt charge you extra.

    Cool
    question about the webcam
CR 1.3mp FZ is .3 is that correct?
i think camera isn't very important imo.
if the FZ is only .3 did they upgrade it to the FZ2?

If the CR190 has bluetooth i'm jumping on the CR but i hear it's kinda bulky for a 14.1 while FZs are thin for a 15.4 according a to a previous poster.
CR 5.5lbs FZ 5.75lbs according to bestbuy

if your replacing it, it shouldnt matter too much, but you never know when you may need another one.

The CR is barely smaller than the FZ, the FZ has bluetooth, the difference in weight is negligible.

eta: look at the size specs on bestbuy, for the marginal difference in weight/size the you get quite a bit more screen with the FZ.

they all come with an AC adapter you have the option of adding an additional one or a smaller/lighter one.

If you carry the laptop around the smaller lighter one is quite useful. The cord folds right up into it.

it is big enough to justify spending $50. The difference between the 2.0 and 2.2 isnt worth $150.

-well if it has bluetooth, where does it says it on the notebook specs? i cant find that on sony style? dont see bluetooth on the product specs... mybe web is wrong.

-humm fz has media controls... but why u want to access them when the notobooks is closed or turned off??

-VGA is like my great grandma it to video talking... i prefer HDMI thas even better than DVI.
-8400mGT vs intel x3100... i prefer 8400mGT, way more grapfics power.

-FZ is the smalest 15.4 screen in the market... allmost same size of the CR. thinner than the CR.
    CR = 13.2"(W) x 1.25-1.67"(H) x 9.8"(D)
    FZ = 14"(W) x 0.98-1.4"(H) x 10.02"(D)

-FZ looks verry nice and clean and has a great build quality... dosent have the glossy and the colors of the CR but i presonaly dont like the glossy finish cous it gets greasy and it gets lots of finger prints.

I was planning to buy Sony CR190 laptop.I have read a lot about it on the forum but i am really confused about few thing.I will appreciate the answers
1)Does this come with integrated bluetooth or not as on the notebook review some user says no and the specs at sonystyle don't mention anything.
2)Will i be able to use the expresscard media remote for bluetooth with this laptop ,if i buy a external bluetooth if it doesn't come with integrated bluetooth.which one do you recommend.
3)I am not a gamer but still having no good graphic card on this laptop concern me ,is the integrated one any good or shld i drop this laptop and buy one with nvidia or geforce in it like sony fz series(this one is not at all stylish) or HP Pavilion dv6500t.
4)I am seeing lot of user saying stuff about the battery,is that a prblem

My main reason to buy this laptop is its style ,and color and also its sony but if you thing any other laptop is better than this please let me know and i will check that out too.I also liked the HP Pavilion dv6500t,its cool too but is that any better than sony for this price range ($1300).For the same configuration dell was expensive($1600) and i am not so sure about Dell Inspiron 1520.But i am going around these 3 Sony(CR or FZ),HP or Dell.
    Any suggestion is welcome

    Thanks
