The power supply connector on my Sony Vaio GRV550 is failing and now very intermittant. I have tried to open the case to troubleshoot/replace it by removing all the screws I can see but to no avail. What is the trick? Is there a resource on the net or PDF that illunstrates how to get into the damn thing? Thanks in advance! S.

On the left side open the cover for the firewire port. Remove the small screw. That will allow you to push the speaker enclosure to the left and lift it out. Be careful. The speakers are attached with a short cable. Disconnect that at its base. That will get you started. It laptop comes apart in layers; the keyboard, a metal plate, other stuff. All of the screws are accessible and most are obvious. Either the keyboard or the touchpad (I forget which) has a funny type of connector. First pull up on the connector to release the cable. Then pull the cable out.
To remove the plastic cover that your hands rest on you will have to remove the CD/DVD, battery, and hard drive. That will expose very small screws which are accessible from the bottom. You'll need to have the laptop upside down with the lid closed to do this. You might want to do this step first.
It's kind of tricky to put everything back and get it locked in correctly. It took me two tries. You'll need a small Phillips screwdriver to do all of this. I had two size 1 Phillips screwdrivers and neither was small enough.
