After 3 weeks of anticipating the M1330 to arrive on my doorstep, I've been e-mailed by dell saying the EDD has been moved to mid august. I'm literally sick to the stomach of waiting so I'm seriously considering cancelling and the only alternative has been the Sony FZ. I really did want a laptop that I could take around with me but all other portable laptops didn't have a strong enough graphics card. Is it worth cancelling my M1330 for an FZ? Your comments will be greatly appreciated. The specs are below:

The M1330 is not worth getting without the LED display, so go with the FZ.

    This question boils down to:
Do you want a 15.4" laptop or a 13.3" laptop. I do not like 15.4" laptops regardless of the manufacturer because I have to carry my laptop with me everywhere?

Is your 8400M GT only 128 mb? The one that I ordered from sony usa is 256mb.

It is hard to say which one fits your needs. What do you plan on doing with it? If you plan on playing games, doing multimedia, or photo/video editing go with the FZ as it has a better display and graphics card. If you are looking for something lighter and smaller maybe the dell is a better option.

Hi, what makes the FZ's display better than the M1330's? Are you comparing Sony's double-lamp version or standard version with the M1330's CCFL or LED display?

As it turns out, both the FZ11Z & M1330 are on my short list too (for different reasons, of course).

Did you ever look at the new SZ6's? If you're wanting portability that's the closest competitor to the M1330 from Sony...it all depends on what you want to do with it.

    1. If you're looking at portability with the option of medium use gaming, then either the M1330 or the SZ6 would be a good choice.

    2. If you're wanting a medium to heavy use gaming laptop that won't break the bank, then stick with the FZ or even go with a Vostro or Inspiron 1520, which all have the 8400M GT as graphics options.

Again, it comes down to what you truly want to do with it, what your preferences are in the build and quality of the laptop, and what you're willing to shell out on it. Good luck choosing one.

what about SZ? isn't SZ more comparable to M1330? The question is do you want portability or performance? If you want portability with ok performance, M1330 or SZ will be a good choice. If you want better performance, then FZ is a good choice.

I've seen both, and FZ dual-lamp display has much better brightness/color representation. Of course, LED screen on 1330 will eat much less power, resulting in better battery life with X1330. really, these two laptops aren't in same category, though.
