Explain it a little better, do you have to restart or if you press the "Windows" key it minimizes and the Start Menu pops up. Could be a problem with your Java.

I would uninstall limewire, and then reinstall it.

if you are using this to download illegal files...its not the right thing to do

Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Uninstall java and its updates if there are any and limewire. Then reinstall Limewire, it should automatically install Java. If it doesnt go to Limewire's website and there is a link to where you can download Java.

OK so i followed your instructions: uninstalled java and limewire.
Then I reinstalled limewire and it automiatically installed java. I updated the java to version 5 update 6. and started limewire. This time instead of my screen going completely black I could see the limewire image in my lower right hand corner but it was at a real blurry resolution and was hanging off my screen. the rest of the screen area was black.

 Some improvement atleast. Try this if you dont mind, create a new User, login and try installing it again. If it still occurs then its a problem with Java or your drivers. Let me know if you try that.

Nick, I believe when you download Limewire, there are 2 options:

I might use LimeWire BASIC for copyright infringement.
I will not use LimeWire BASIC for copyright infringement.

You choose one you can download it, or else it wont download.

I believe not everyone uses it for illegal activity, I dont for one. I use it to direct connect with friends to send files to each other etc.

I can confirm this is a Java issue. It will also occur when going to certain java sites.

I tried installing different versions of java but the only thing that worked was when I did the semi-clean install and installed java myself. I think it's a overlooked error by sony because the fix seems to only work with a format, thus far.

I had the same problem with java - the solution that worked for me was to uninstall the display adapter, reboot the machine, windows then re-installs the adapters for you..problem gone.
