University Computers (the computer store at Boston University) is selling the SZ650N/C for $1999 with a Free 3 Year Warranty Upgrade.

Shipping is about $25 and no tax out of MA (though, Boston is having a tax-free weekend this weekend):

After speaking with them today, they DO have it in stock! I hope this helps!

Oh yeah, and you don't have to be a BU student to buy from University Computers, FYI.

No, it's the Express Ship so their lead time is about a week. But for $159 you can upgrade to the Next Business Day Onsite Accidental Damage Protection. It's to the right after you click on the link.

FYI: I have had sony's mail in service before.

A week is to get their 'special' box. It took them 45 days to get the notebook back to me...the first time. It was a HD death they returned it with a drive that was half the size of the one I paid for. When I called them they acted like I should be happy I got it back. I was not, they were very rude and very reluctantly agreed to correct their error.
Trip 2 took another 45 days. It came back with a loud squeak on the hinges. WTF??? Another rude convo, which they reluctantly sent another special box (yes, they have to send a new special box even if you have one there.)
Trip 3 was another 45 days. And the squeak was still there.

With a machine down for more than three months due to a hard driver failure I'd had enough. Nice hardware, terrible support. That's when I called CDW and returned the machine.

So far, my experience with a SZ650 has shown that Sony's support staff is the same. This one's about to get returned too for a bad display (severe light leakage) and extremely long recharge times (6 hours.)

If I were you, I'd spend the bucks to upgrade to onsite service, which should be a $50 upgrade.
