Hi folks, first off I wanted to say that this forum has been invaluable in helping me fix/mod and clean install my SZ. However, I've stumbled upon a problem that I don't think has been mentioned yet.

This is regarding Half Life 2 and Source related games in conjunction with the Protector Suite QL. See, when I first got the laptop I didn't bother with the fingerprint scanner right away. I wanted to to test how games would run first with the 7400 Go, and so I installed one of my favorites - Half Life 2. I ran and played it, along with Day of Defeat: Source, just fine for the first few days. Then I decided to finally get to using the Protector Suite QL, and enrolled my fingerprints and all that. Now when I run Half Life 2 or Day of Defeat, I get this runtime error message:

    "Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\Protector Suite QL\menusw.exe

    R6025 -pure virtual function call"

Then Protector Suite QL would crash and be removed from the system tray. Scanning my finger no longer brings up the menu either.

I've looked all over the place for solutions, but nothing showed up. I tried looking up "pure virtual function call" also but all I got back was a bunch of script for C++ that doesn't help me at all...

So I turn to you guys, is there anyone that can help this poor soul out? It's frustrating because I've tried turning off the sensor, disabling skins, and everything else to try and "turn off" Protector Suite but it still crashes when I run the games. Weird thing is, this all happened after I enrolled my fingerprints whileas before it was fine when I didn't have my prints enrolled at all. I tried to remove my registered prints but it won't let me, says I have to have at least one print enrolled... argh!

    Any help would be appreciated!

Considering that the Protector Suite thing is pretty much Sony SZ specific I doubt you will find that there is much of a real solution to be had out there.

I have never initialized my fingerprint scanner [for other reasons] but I do play HL-2 from time to time it runs great on the SZ at near max settings.

My guess is that you are going to just have to choose which you want to use the most as I doubt that either Sony or Valve will ever develop a "fix" for this issue.

Well I guess I'll just delete the fingerprint scanner then, since I always saw it as more of a "gimmick" than a real security feature anyways. I'm the type of person that would rather type out my password everytime than to have the computer remember it for me, so it's no big deal.

It was just fun to play with the scanner for a bit, though. Made me feel like James Bond or something

And yes, I'm surprised at how well HL2 runs on this little machine!
