It means that your hardisk **may** encounter a failure. To prevent any data loss, back up all your current data, so if it does happen, you won't lose it.

If in the end, your hard disk does fail, try and get a replacemtn through the warranty. However, if your hard disk is fairly new, then you shouldn't really get an error. Sometimes, SMART does report things incorrectly, but it is better to be on the safe side, than sorry. Hope this helps.

i would contact the dealer and tell them what's going on. your HDD could be faulty and may need a replacement.

    btw,

S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) = A feature built-in into the HDD. it monitors; driver, disk heads, surface, electronics, etc. (basically all the things in the HDD)

S.M.A.R.T. function is to predict impending failiure of the HDD, before it happens. the idea is, that u know that the Hard disk is going to faill, so u can backup all your file before the HDD refuse to works.

    good luck!

Looks like your drive is bad. If not, assume that all data is/will be going corrupt. Back your stuff up ASAP. I've only had that message come up once, and the drive went bad.
As Zero and Wooble said, contact your HDD manuf about getting it fixed. Or if it's out of warranty, get a new HDD. If your HDD came with a disc util cd or floppy, run the programs on there to check it's current integrity.
