I have a VPCZ11V5E and the 2.5" sata hard disk has failed, so I need to replace it, but I am wondering about my options and whether I can install a 1.8" ssd boot ( there's an empty space where it could go) and also another 2.5" ssd in the dvd caddy?

The thing is, the sata cable is singular and goes to the 2.5" HD in the drive caddy, not to where dual ssd COULD be installed.

So, what do I need parts wise to be able to firstly install the 2.5" ssd in the pre-existing drive caddy and also the 1.8" ssd in the empty space?

    Many thanks
    Simon

To install the 2.5" SSD in place of the 2.5" HDD you need ... nothing. It is a direct replacement. Note that some SSDs are thinner than the HDDs, so you might need to cut out a piece of cardboard to make up the gap so the SSD won't be loose in the space for it. I just did this on my laptop - see my sig - and it is great.

Thanks anytimer for the confirmation on SSD replacement.

What I am wondering though is, whether I can also add in dual 128gb 1.8" SSDs into the empty space in the chassis and also add in a standard file drive in the dvd caddy. The only issue I see is that the SATA connection for the 2.5" HD comes form the same connection as the dual ssd connection would come from? I don't see another sata connection point that say that DVD drive would connect into?
