    Hello,

    I am using an S5XP and was just wondering, is the constant soft sound you can hear from a fan or the harddrive? Has anyone tried the harddrive acoustic management on Notebook Hardware Control?

    Put your ear right next to the fan - see if you can hear any noise.

    I think that it is most likely that the noise is coming from the fan - you shouldn't hear the hard drive. What make is the hard drive?

    Its a Fujistu MHV2100BH (100GB). The noise is really only hearable in a completely silent environment.

    I never seem to hear my hard drive. The only thing I notice is the fan. I have an S580.

    I can both hear my hard drive and fan. Maybe I am too sensitive to the sound. But I am fine with it. I have S580 80G HD.

    All hard drives make some noise. There might be some tools on Fujitsus website.
