I'm in the process of replacing the cells on a VGP-BPS9 battery, and had a quick question, if anyone else has experience on this.

Some BMS chips are rendered inoperative if you disconnect the cells from the board. If anyone has tried this, do you know if this is the case with the eeprom that Sony's are using (the one here in question is an M37512 chip). Knowing this would help me avoid setting up a parallel connection with other batteries, before disconnecting the cells to be replaced.

    Thanks in advance....

Guess no one has done this...I'll have to play it safe, then, and wire some old 18650s in parallel first.

    Thanks anyway for looking.
