My vaio Z12 boots up real quick and its all awesome... but!

When it loads up windows... windows itself freezes (not really) just after loading because the network is trying to connect or find out if there is a connected, wireless search or what ever it is, definitely network related. But it takes a good 30sec's sometimes and its a real pain because no other program or server that would start up start before its done basically making windows not ready anyway.

anyone else has this? ideas? I feel like my poor comp could do with a reinstall...

Hmm im not 100% sure, but It happens even when there is no auto connection to wireless. eg. if im on wire and delete all wireless presets, it will load the available wireless network list of course since the wireless is still "on".

It just seems odd, its like it taking so freaking long to get an ip or something.

wait, just to make things clear, does everything slow down and "freeze" until it finds a connection? Or only the programs that require an internet connection slow down/fail to start?

You may want to update (or downgrade) your drivers for the network devices.

everything slows down / freezes until it either finds or figures there is no connection (still while plugged in, actually can't remember what happens if there is connections setup, gotta test.)

    @leslieann

Yeah, I think a downgrade might be the way.. if noone else has problems ill prob try the default sony drivers.

EDIT: So I take it none of you have noticed anything like it?

    I don't have a Z, but it's not normal.

However after a little more thinking on this, my desktop seems to have developed this and it's wired. Only about 2 seconds, but it never did it before, so it may be an MS update causing it.

I'm reloading my laptop and I'll check on it.

    SOLUTION!

Solved Slow network startup on all adapters - Windows 7 Forums

"The following is what happened to me and my experience: (This is the REAL answer)

I know this problem is old....but yes it happened to me today....so NO its not fixed....

It is NOT network related to connections and or hardware....at all.....so you dont have to disable IP6....reinstall drivers for NIC....or reinstall windows either...

It is NOT only related to vista or 7...as this is happening to me on xp

It IS related to services to starting up..... .NET framework in particular!

IF this is happening to you...upon startup and waiting for network icon to showup....go to run type: services.msc and look for a services with "STARTING" versus "STARTED" for me it was the stupid framework....I uninstalled it and network now shows up as it should (less than one second)

*someone please copy this and distribute it all over the internet to help others....Thank you "

I can confirm that THIS is the reason it happens.

Read the entire thread... It is not a specific service, but A service.. could be anything. You have to check when you start your computer to see which one it is it is trying to start.
