I know a few of you have done clean installs of Vista on your Sony SZ, but has anyone simply performed the recommended upgrade using all the files provided online? I have the SZ 320P/B and Sony has approximately 1.47Gb of files to perform the upgrade which I assume are the same files tht will ship on the DVD less the actual OS. Since I have a Vista disk here I was thinking of performing the upgrade this weekend. Are there any known issues? I was thinking that I would restore the SZ to the original factory configuration, install Vista, install the updates, an then delete all the bloatware. I would hope that everything works including the Smart Wifi utility.

Hi Craigg, I have a SZ330P and am ready to do a clean install as well. Appreciate if you could provide some details once you went through your install. I purchased Home Premium Upgrade and wonder whether you need the original XP install disc during the Vista upgrade routine ? Sony webpage indicates that VISTA will ask for the original XP install disc but the 330P came pre-installed with XP and no 'true' CD copies of XP were included. Do you have a Full VISTA version or the upgrade retailer version ? Maybe it is a no brainer and I misunderstood the upgrade logic when you want to do a clean install.
    greetings,

    Michael,

When you boot from your Vista disk it will prompt you if you want to do an upgrade or clean install. If you select clean install it will still be able to determine that you have XP already installed on your machine. In any event, do not attempt an install before creating a set of recovery disks.
