It's impossible to order or even configure an E series on both the Sony.co.uk and SonyStyle.co.uk websites!

Has Sony decided to drop this range ? :(

Not sure. I ordered mine two weeks ago with an estimated dispatch time of 5-6 weeks. That came down to 3-4 weeks once the order had gone through. However they said they'd email me again when the laptop had started to be put together to give an update on dispatch time. I haven't receieved an update yet, but then again I can't imagine it would take too long to put it together, so might not get an update for a week...

In short, I hope not, but the dispatch times are pretty long...

No, the E series has been a big seller. There might be a refresh coming or component shortages...

The laptop's been selling like crazy here in HK too. Although many stores list it as "available" for two months now, I have yet seen one in person. Just the spec cards they normally put beside the demo unit, imagine that.

    edit:
Make that 3 months. Man time certainly flies lol.

    Will do! Specs: -
    • 15.4"
    • 4GB Ram
    • Intel i5 midrange processor, can't remember exactly which
    • ATI 5470 graphics
    • 500GB HD (free upgrade)
    • DVD drive (missed out on the fre Blu-Ray upgrade by 1 day  but I would have had to shell out for an HD screen then, which would have added even more to the price...)
Price, inc. VAT is £616. Fingers crossed it comes soon!

You were right dude! Refresh coming next week!

It "might" be worth cancelling and reordering on June 1st for a better spec! ;)

Better spec for same price? I'm confused as to what this June 1st stuff means for price and spec... Is it not just that they'll have more parts arriving then and thus be able to start shipping them again?

What they told me is that the E is gonna be refreshed with a bump up in spec - more than likely the base models will stay about the same price while getting more expensive with the higher options ;)

The refreshed models will also ship much quicker too - I think you should call Sony for confirmation, although they don't have any specific details just yet :(

Don't worry dude, you'll get a kickass laptop one way or the other! :)
