Please respond. Several SZ430n machines are unable to correctly display to external widescreen monitors when in speed mode. The result is inappropriate resolution options. Sony's unacceptable response has been that they don't support third party hardware.

There's a recurring problem with SZ's connecting to Samsung lcd tv's -- mine is a 40" to be specific. Others have had this problem too but no solutions for this yet.

I use a Dell 20" UltraSharp Widescreen everyday via the DVI port on the port replicator in speed mode and have ZERO problem.

What exactly is your problem? Looks like the majority of the SZ users here are connecting to an external monitor fine.

I have not tried, but I m pretty sure the NVIDIA with DVI output can handle 1920x1200 resolution because when I first setup the 20" Dell (1680x1050) Widescreen, I can pull the resolution slider to 1920x1200, of course it is not supported by the monitor and it will revert to 1680 afterwards. But at least the card is supporting up to 1920.

Ok, maybe i over-reacted with the word defect. I figured out how to set it up to some degree . It works ok when i extend the desktop. This still isn't optimal. The intel cards works well in several modes, I feel like running the extended desktop wastes resources. the settings also reset each time i switch or reboot.

But, I can get it working so that's good. thx all.
