    Hi,

I would like to purchase a sony fs215z laptop, here are the specs:

    Intel® Centrino™ Mobile Technology with Intel® Pentium® M processor 740 (1.73 GHz)
100 GB (Ultra ATA / 100 4200 rpm) hard disk drive
Memory: 2*256 MB DDR SDRAM; maximum 1 GB DDR SDRAM
    Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 6200 with TurboCache™ supporting 128 MB

Do you think that this system will be able to handle high defenition videos both at 720 and 1080? I intend on using it for output to my hd lcd.

Any help will be great Thanks ;)

Ok thanks for that, it should just about handle it.

I have just noticed though it can only output 1280 x 800.

Think i may have to look to another manufacturer as sonys specs seem a bit basic now.

Are there any new models due for release?

I don't think you'll encounter any problems with HD video, at least not 720p - it wouldn't matter if you used 1080i anyway, as that is much higher than the resolution of your screen.

I have seen someone play HD video downloaded from Microsoft on a V2000Z - that has integrated graphics and a Turion.

well i have my notebook now,

It plays HD VIDEO great, no lag at all. Overall a good well built laptop.

The only problem i have now is that i cant connect it to my 40" bravia screen as its missing a vga input  It also is missing a vga out which is quite dissapointing.

Does anyone have an FS740 (and above) and hast tested, if it can handle videos with H.264 (MPEG-4/AVC) codec and full HD resolution 1080p?

Im not sure if this is any help but my desktop, an athlon 64 939 running at 2.7 ghz has trouble playing 1080p without some stuttering.

I will try some 1080p movies on my fs315 which is similar in spec.

That would be really nice as the FS I'm considering to buy is the FS315(H)
