I am running Windows XP on my Sony Vaio SZ79GN, when I plug headphones I hear sound in both, speakers and headphones, what should I do? to solve this problem?

or if it is software problem, give me the links to download the drivers.

    sorry for my English. :D

    Could be a driver problem.

Easiest thing to try - run Vaio Update, it should offer updated Sigmantel Drviers (unless you updated them recently)

    Ok.
    It didn't help.
    Why?

No update, or a driver update didn't help?

    hmm...

That leaves me a bit "stumped" now...

It could also be a hardware issue -although I'm not sure how.

i faced such a problem in the past !! play with headphone jack when you plug it ( put it just half away and move it ) may this will help you !!

and system recovery will help you if the first step didn't work !!

You already have a post on this so I am going to merge both of your posts together. Also, please can you wait 24 hours to bump your threads. Responding to a point that somebody has made is different as in adding some extra info/point yourself but it is stated in the rules of the board that you wait 24 hours to bump your post.

Btw, try downloading the XP drivers from the Sony website.

There is always the last resort - a full recovery.

Back up your data prior to doing so.

if you reinstall vista and the issue goes away, that means is the driver issue.
if problem persists, that mean the earphone jack is spoilt.

You can always reinstal XP... back up your data first.

Yes all data will be lost.

How to: Just place the DVDs you burnt yourself in the CD drive and start the laptop, follow instructions.

PS: It may be worthwile buying an external HDD to make a backup copy of your data.

You should have burnt your own recovery discs once you recieved our laptop.

If you haven't you can try contacting Sony, they may sell you a recovery disc.

Yes, because you burn your own backup DVD for Vista.
