    Hey Kids,

If Explorer is constantly crashing on you when you try to drag and drop between panes, you might want to uninstall the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack.

After days of farting around uninstalling this and that, shutting down services, and you name it, I eventually (by trial and error) found the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack was responsible for the problems I reported here:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=184200

In short, uninstalling it solved the issue. Reinstalling it reinstated it. Verdict: guilty. And no, disabling it isn't enough. You have to completely uninstall it.

So where to now? I have no Bluetooth. Is there an alternative to this pile of buggy ****e?

That's good to know. It also has a tendency to "lose" its connection at least once a day, requiring you to toggle Bluetooth on and off to make it work again. Since I use a Bluetooth mouse, uninstalling it is not an option, so the only advice I have for you, which is what I'm going to do too, is going back to XP. :(

Download the latest Toshiba Bluetooth directly from Toshiba website.

See if it fixes your problem. The one you will be downloading from Toshiba only works for 30 days though. But it is better than nothing. At least it would give you 30 days time until you find a permanent fix.

I did that and, after seeing the 30 day trial, searched for a Sony version -- I ended up downloading and installing the Sony version of the Toshiba BT stack and my probs seemed to go away -- but I'm not certain this was a newer BT stack than the one that came with my TZ. Maybe it was the multiple BT installs that corrected it?

I tried to download it, but it was so slow I gave up. I haven't tried the Toshiba trial yet.

Can you drag and drop between panes in Explorer without it crashing?

You can just use Vista's bluetooth service.

How? Vista doesn't provide a driver.

Confirmed. I just did the same, and the version on the Web site doesn't seem to stuff up Explorer, or at least not in the same way as the version bundled in the Drivers folder.

I wonder how many of the other drivers are newer?

I have FZ and am having the exact same problem. Can anyone tell me where you found new Sony stack, so that I can try that? Thank you. :)

Here's the official link to what's called the Original Drivers for my TZ. It's not the original driver, though - it can't be.

But, you should try the page for your model first. Drill down from here:

Thank you for the help. Unfortunately, it turned out that Sony doesn't offer new BT stack download for FZ, and the one for TZ refuses to install. So, in a meantime, I decided to try out the new wireless-switcher (I uninstalled it long ago as a bloatware, when I first got FZ). This is pretty annoying..

    Well anyway, thanks again. :)

Looks like the newest version of wireless switcher fixed it for me. So, you can try that if there's anyone who is having this problem, as well.
