Great forum guys! I am on other forums for all other things of interest and since I always get better knowledge on forums decided to join and see if you can point me in the right direction.
My wife dropped my VAIO laptop model VGN-SZ650N with carbon fiber shell, love the look of it and paid extra for it new, the LED XBrite screen is amazing too! She dropped it from the couch sideways on to the carpet floor and looks like this thin LED screen craked and now I see a thin line inside with pixel lines and all kinds of stuff on half of the screen! My local computer guy looked at it and said it needs a new screen but he said the replacement is like $450 plus labor! I looked online and found http://www.screenaid.com/sony-vaio-...creen-133-wxga1280x800-glossy-led-p-2859.html that have an $189 replacement, but I am not sure if it would fit or who they are, they poped up everywhere on yahoo when I did the search, anyone else has had an issue where they needed to replace the screen, where did your get a replacement?
I would hate to sell if for $300-400 as parts, laptop is in perfect condition! Please help. Thank you.

A cheaper way to do this might be to find the model number of the LCD panel itself and shop for that. I've done this with other laptops at minimal expense.

If your wife broke it, have her go through all the trouble of finding the best way to have it fixed.

don't use screenaide, it's a scam site. Look for one on ebay from a seller with good rep, that or go directly to sony that way you know you get an exact replacement

yes. she feels bad. I mean this LED is so thin, that 1.5 ft fall from couch to carpeted floor was enough to crack it. so screenaid is a scam, good to know. Because they were $225 cheaper then www.screentekinc.com/ who has them for $415. Damn, that is expensive. Does anyone know where I can get it cheaper? I mean the laptop right now is worth maybe $800 on the street in mint condition, so if I get $350 for it and buyer replaces the screen, i guess he can do that. I do not think I wan to spend $415 on this screen. I saw 13.3 inch HP portable with LED laptop for $700 at Sams Club the other day, I mean it is not as slim and pretty as Vaios, but nice enough. What do you guys think? Can I get this screen cheaper then $415 anywhere, anyone here repairs these and can point me to the right place where to get one? Or I will try to sell it for parts on ebay, craiglist or a forum..

Very similar story happened to my TZ, and it simply slipped from my wife's hand to the floor. Even though it was in its VAIO branded protective case, the LED screen cracked. Like someone suggested above, find a similar model on eBay that is sold for parts and replace the screen yourself or have someone else help you. Good luck!

I see. OK, I will take a look if there is any screens on ebay on laptops sold for parts. Do you think my laptop being in perfect condition is worth $350 for parts?! And someone else will do the hunting for the screen? I mean this is one nice Carbon fiber metal cased laptop, nicest fit and finish I have seen! Hate to sell it..
