Okay, was wondering if someone could help me out. I have a Sony Vaio VGN-B100B that I received as a gift last year. The computer is running smoothly. My problem is that I didn't take care of it so I got the top lid scratched up and it has a tiny dent on a corner. I called Sony but they said that First Tier service was $300! What else can I do because I am not spending that much? Is there any other place that can change the top lid, or send me the lid and my computer teacher at school puts it for me?

sony should have an authorized spare parts dealer. you should contact them for the lids. as far as installation is concerned, the job shouldnt be that difficult but i would recommend against it if you do not have prior experience.

That's funny, $300. Accidental damage for 4 years from Sony is only $400, and they were willing to replace my lid just because I said there were a few minor scratches. =P
