All of a sudden my old VGN-S2XP has started acting up. Even with the power adaptor plugged in and battery as fully charged as it could be (it is an old battery :p ), as soon as I boot up, I see the message: preparing to hibernate, and then the laptop goes into hibernation and turns itself off.

I'm running Windows XP on this laptop.

    Any suggestions? Anyone?

Try booting it without battery and just AC power...

Tried that. No luck. Laptop boots up fine, shows me the desktop, then immediately goes back into hibernation. :(

Same thing when booting from battery - without the power adaptor plugged in.

OK. Fixed, :D for now. :p

Decided to see if safe mode still worked. Pressed F8 while booting. Got a different menu. Something like this with two choices:

    Restart interrupted.

Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu.
    Continue with system restart.

I chose the first option (delete restoration data) and everything started working again. :D I suppose the hibernation data got corrupted or something???
