My 3 year-old Vaio laptop was struggling with Spyware so I decided to do a system recovery, reinstalling everything on the C drive. However, when I try this process, the computer switches itself off before it completes. It's just as if the power plug has been pulled out suddenly. Any ideas??
This was whilst running it off AC power. I wonder if heating is as issue cos it has been insanely hot in London for several days and I had the machine on for hours at the weekend - although I'd have thought by now it might have cooled off.
Because Windows is now not installed, I can't get into any folders to do more virus cleanups - all I can do is try the recovery disk, but the process never gets beyond 70-80% finished. If I try to boot without the recovery disk in, I get the message "missing operating system".
    Thanks for any tips.....
