Hello, I hope you can help me with this. I have a Vaio VGN-S270b and Im thinking of buying a DVDRW and follow the guide to install it. The problem is that I dont know which one to buy, someone told me that the NEC DVD RW ND-6500 should work ( http://www.nec.co.uk/DVD_RW_ND6500.aspx) but Im not sure.

Then I found the AOpen 8 x DVD±RW DL Notebook IDE Drive ( http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=BLK-ISU-8484G-DO&cat=DVD) and it is very cheap, so I would like to know if one of these should work.

The problem is that Im not from the US so its difficult to find stores that send Internationally :(

    Thank you!

I would prefer the NEC provided you can get it to fit.

May be I should buy an external DVDRW and save a few dollars ¬_¬° I think its too much the risk to buy one and then it could not fit right :(

ya. I went to buy a slot loader for my pcg-v505 series, and Sony used a slimmer drive, so the standard "slimline" size didn't fit. Means that the lappy's are smaller and lighter, but the optical drives may or may not be standard. The v505 was in the ultraportable class, the S270 appears to be in the same... I'd be surprised if Sony had a change of heart and went with stock components for that one too.

External drive will offer better speed and quality if you don't burn much while on the road.
