I have a TZ that is about a year old. I got back home today, and noticed that the upper edge of the lid, on the back side of the camera but about an inch further away from the centre, is slightly distorted and INCREDIBLY hot i.e. can't keep my finger on it. The plastic around the hottest part has sagged at the point where there's a channel in the plastic, and it flexes slightly there when I push it with a fingernail. This is a brand new problem.
So far everything is functioning correctly, but I can't imagine things will stay that way for long...
Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I'm completely confused!

Did you know there is a recall from Sony on the TZ, since September this year?
Your problem is exactly why they recall it. Give them a call, fast before it burns. BTW, it does not matter if it is not in warranty. -
It looks like its only a matter of time before it happens to my TZ which I'm typing on now. But when?
jopey, take a look at this thread.

Think this is the 1st actual case of a short and/or overheating near the camera, that I've heard of. Would explain why the techs have been replacing the camera modules during recall service, though.
@ Jopey: Good luck, and be sure to take lots of pictures of your TZ before service.. especially the melted part! Also, send an email to [email protected] and describe your issue, as they seem to take care of people that have had their TZ melt and/or abused during recall service. Both cases should be grounds for a new TZ or TT, but that's just my opinion =) -
Oh yeah, I hope he will get a new TT, much much cooler.
Help - my TZ lid is so hot the plastic is melting!
