I hope someone can help me out here. This is my problem. I purchased the Sony Vaio VGNFW510DT laptop thinking that I could put Windows XP pro on it to use in my office. The office software will not run on Windows 7. I figured no problem I will just do a fresh install of windows XP pro. Software works but I cannot get the ATI mobility Radeon HD4650 drivers to work. I have searched high and low without success. Thus I thought perhaps the solution would be to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional / Ultimate and take advantage of using XP mode and run XP pro virtually in Windows 7. Before buying the upgrade I did a little research and guess what the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T6600 apparently does not support virtualization...There is a reason I use a Mac @ home, lol....

I am hoping someone here can help me out with a link to a driver that will work in XP pro or point me in the right direction to a possible solution to my problem.

Have you tried the ATI driver tool over at DriverHeaven?

    And..

Windows 7 isn't required to virtualize XP. Windows users were able to do previously with Virtual PC 2007. You lose some of the nice integration features but functionally they're the same.

hardware virtualization support is not necessary to virtualize.

its kind of like software raid, it works even without a hardware raid controller.

as for the card you mentioned, this might be helpfull

Gothed; thanks but when I had a good look at it I think it is for the Radeon 4650 card and not the "mobility" Radeon 4650. I don't think the 4650 driver you suggested will work on a Laptop? Please correct me if I am wrong

After a lot of searching and reading I gave ATI Mobility Modder 1.2.1.0 a try and it did the trick. Now just have to wait to see if it is stable. Hopefully it is the answer. When I first booted with it the resolution was very low but it did allow 1600 x 900 which is adequate for my need. Thanks to all for your help.
