Hello Notebook Review viewers
This is a very long story so I am going to try my best and explain what happen.
3 months ago I posted on NBR seeking for help for my 3 year old Sony T series
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=115500
I post on Notebook Review Forums seeking for help and found this company that does "component-level" repairs. I give them a call, someone answered and said yea, we do repairs so I'm going to send you our laptop repairing form. Fill it out and send your laptop to us. If it cannot be repaired, we just tell you to pay for shipping fee.
I'm like alright. I fill in a repair form.
For those who don't know, LaptopTek on eBay is http://www.pelltechnology.com/
Attached it into my laptop, and sent it off. This is the only document I signed.
-- Laptop arrived to Laptop Tek --
I phoned them to follow up because I was desprite. I called in their troll free number and extension 21. Someone picked up and said they got it. I added rush fee of 50usd just so they can get it done faster.
-- Around May 1-7 --
UPS called in saying my laptop was returned. I phoned up to LaptopTek quickly and the reason they shipped it back is because they "assume" I wouldn't fix it because it was 575USD and have it shipped back already.
I told them I like to have it fixed regardless, so I rejected the UPS package (I never seen my laptop, was in their depot), phoned up Laptop Tek and make sure they know a rejected package is coming in.
-- May 16-18 --
I phoned them, on May 16, someone answered that it was in their depot and is about to look at it, I told them I had a rush fee paid a month ago so look at it now, they agreed.
On May 18th, I phoned and they said ok, your mother need replaced. We need you to pay us to continue because we need to order in the parts. I'm like okay.
I phoned them a week later, someone who was answering (extension 21) said its being fixed as you said and should receive "shipping info" by June 1st. They were telling me "Oh yea, it was a busy week so it took awhile", well that's what's the rush fee's for, I get special attention.
Ever since that call, I did NOT get...
1. a reply in voice mail regarding the status
2. shipping info (no info at all)
3. no email reply
4. no one picked up the phone, it was always answering machine)
Their normal turn around is 5-10 business days in their voice mailbox and since the first transaction with this company, its been over 65 business days (2 months ore more...)
So anyhow, I do not have my laptop at the moment. I do not have any shipping info, and I do not even know if they had my laptop or not. This looks like a fraud. I phoned up visa already (my payment method) to get assistance on this matter, and I hope the Notebook Review Forums can also assist in this matter.
Sincerely
Ch28Kid

Sorry to hear about your situation.
First try their Laptop Status thing on their site and see if that yields any results(your paperwork might have been lost)
Since the company is based in the United States(florida), you can try to file a complaint with the BBB(Better Business Bureau).Your complaint will be forwarded to the company within two business days. The company will be asked to respond within 14 days, and if a response is not received, a second request will be made. You will be notified of the company's response when we receive it (or notified that we received no response). Complaints are usually closed within 30 calendar days.
BBB online complaint system(hopefully it doesnt matter that you live in Canada)
And keep on try to contact(try to do it during 9:30-5:30 EST) them and keep records of the conversations(you have done a good job already) and see what your CC company can do to get your money back if that doesnt work.
Good luck -
Has anyone on this forum had experience with pelltechnology?
I just file a report at BBB. -
Sorry I'm pulling up my old topic
Its been 1 month since I post this and I still haven't got my broken T150 back.
I already file a report at BBB. What else can I do beside calling them?
Anyone? -
I had a similar situation a few years ago with Compaq. First, send them a letter demanding the return of your notebook within 10 business days, make sure to send the letter certified return receipt and keep a copy of the letter. Make sure that your letter states that you will resort to the courts should you not receive your notebook. Make sure in your demand letter you outline all of the facts noting each communication. At the same time, dispute the transaction with Visa as services not rendered. Then, if you do not receive your notebook, file a claim in small claims court. Check your state laws, but mine allows up to $3000. Once you file in your local jurisdiction, they have to appear in your court (or hire a lawyer and try to move it into federal courts, but this is not likely). If they do not show for court, you will receive a judgement against them which can be served on them by their local sheriff. Or, once they have ignored their demands, you can file charges on them for theft.
Mostly likely, once they get a summons into small claims court and the Visa bill gets charged back, you will get your notebook back. At this point, it is adviseable to stop talking to them and document all communication on paper.
Help NBR! They took my laptop!
