    HI,

I purchased a Sony Vaio CR 36, launched recently, 3 days back in India. The laptop has 200 gb HDD and with the hidden recovery partition the available disk space was 176 gb. Then after the all the crapware from Sony along with the Vista Home Premium it occupied arnd 21 gb, so all in all, the space available to me for use when I received the laptop was 155 gb.

Upto this part all was ok.... but when I installed few small s/w(s) of my own which I use frequently and stored some data of around 700 mb.
The softwares I installed were :
    1) NOD 32 (anti-virus)
    2) Yahoo Messenger for Vista
    3) Internet Download Manager
    4) Gtalk
    5) Firefox
    6) Adobe Photoshop
    7) Bandwidth usage finder for my net connetion
    8) Nokia PC Suite &
    9) Winrar

My problem is that I checked the free space today and it was 145 gb (free) mean 10 gb gone with installation of such minimal things... Its really bugging  .
I know that installation of these software couldn't have taken 10 gb, nyways and also that its sony's crap making multiple backups here and there, consuming my space for nothing.(if I m not wrong)
I am afraid that at this rate I am gonna run outa disk space very soon :(
Also the lappy had only one partition c: and no other partition.

I need your help in sorting this out ... What can I do in order to stop this.I have already made the recovery disks.

Please help me and reply soon ... Thanks in advance :)

    Best Regards,

Turn off System Restore - don't lose your disks. And congrats on the nice new machine! [IMG] [IMG]

if you delete the recovery partition you will not add that space onto your C drive. the only way to gain that back is to do a complete system restore using the recovery discs *that you hopefully created*, and then when you format the HD tell it not to create the recovery partition.

the system restore is what takes up a ton of space, but its useful to me IMO. I've discovered with vista, having less free space isnt an issue, at leas not as much as it was with XP.
