Hi, Anyone out there, help me please. I have a Sony Vaio VNG-C2S Laptop, which I have just had a new Hard Drive fitted. Unfortunately I have lost the contents of the C: Drive (Windows Vista) and the hidden restore section. I made a restore CD when I first Purchased the Laptop. I am now not able to restore the contents of the restore DVD back onto my Laptop. All I have on the laptop is “Operating System not found”. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Jeff

Sometimes the restored dvd may not work. I had to make it 2 times to get a good copy. Can you still put the original drive back, if so, make another set of dvd's.

Hi, Is it possible to use a third party software to make a partition on the new HDD, then move the contents of the DVD Restore Disc to the new partition. Regards, Jeff UK

No this will not work. The restore disk contains a compressed version not an actual image.

It sounds like the BIOS setup is trying to boot first from the hard drive not the DVD drive. Go into the BIOS and change that.

Hi, Thanks for your replies. I am able to boot from my DVD Restore Disk ok!
Firstly it asks for keyboard Layout, then location of OS, non listed. Then asks to load drivers. Then insert Media to locate drivers. It can see the items on the DVD Restore Disk (CD Drive (D: RECOVERYDISC. Thanks, Jeff
