    Hi,

Regardless of how I shut down my Viao SB Sandybridge i7 it is flat by the time i come to switch it on next.

    whats the gig?

Very little use. Extended battery attached, battery set to charge to 80%, never kept on anything but a cool flat surface. vents never blocked.

If I shut down, hibernate or sleep.. it runs itself flat

if I plug it in, press power, it gives me a login error message then hangs with teh cursor in the middle of a black screen.

I have to hard turn off then switch back on to get windows going.

    any thoughts?

edit - turns out its not flat.. but behaves as such as when i press teh power button to turn it on, it starts up, but then switches off.

Took me a second to figure out what you meant by flat - by which you mean the battery running out of power right? It sounds kinda like it's not properly shutting down, as in there is a program that's hanging and preventing the machine from turning off. Do you actually see the windows shut down screen when you tell it to?
