Hey everyone that helps ppl that dont well... anyways. I have a sony VGN-AR750E/B. I installed windows 7 on it and when i was downloading the updates it lbegan the restart to finish the install. during the dreaded "please do not turn off your computer" screen my buddy thought it would be funny to do just that. well now it doesnt start. when you push the power button it lights up and the LEDs for the battery, power, and hard drive light up but there is nothing on the screen. i can hear the fans start and the hard drive kick on but there is no "vaio" displayed. PLZ HELP!!!

Did you try unplug, take out the battery, "press the power button for 1 minute", put back the battery and turn it on? Try that turning on with and without the power plug...

edit: Does the screen turns on at all? That means can you see that backlight is on?

Hopefully it wasn't somehow a BIOS update.

From what the OP is saying it sounds like a Windows Update.
If that's the case and the machine ain't booting up into an OS, then my only suggestion is to reinstall the OS altogether.

    OR...
Have you tried booting up in safe mode, if it even gets to that point? Just press the F8 button a few times after the SONY VAIO logo disappear from the BIOS boot.

Now, if this occured during a BIOS update, then you do indeed have a problem....

Thanks everyone for replying so fast. but ive tried the hold the button thing. lol it still didnt work. and it doesnt even show the vaio logo when it "starts" if you can call it that. i have the recovery disks that i bought from sony and i tried to see if putting one of them in when i start the computer would help but still nothing. def starting to think about a new computer.
