So I've had my Vaio for over a year...

You guys know when you hit the Fn key, and then volume up and down, the digital thing pops up on the screan with the bar showing you how high (or low) the volume is.

I like this feature, and all of a sudden it stopped popping up. Volume still works fine, but that little bar doesnt pop up.

I've been looking around in the sound part of the control panel, but can't find anything.

    Help please?

On Dells, it's a utility called Dell QuickSet. I'm sure there's a similar thing with Sony. Make sure this is running (whatever it is).

    Anyone with a Vaio know?

......I guess just look around in your Start Menu and see if you come across anything that looks likely, probably under a folder called "Sony".

Wait, I'm finding some stuff on Google....look for something called Hotkey Utility, or something like that.

what about the other fn keys... do they work? like the brightness keys, etc? probably all the fn keys don't work and you'll have to reinstall drivers

The volume goes up and down fine, and the brightness works fine as well. The only thing is I want that digital display saying how high the volume is.

Alright so nobody knows? I thought it would be as easy as checking an option box in the control panel.

So what did you do around the time it stopped appearing? Apply a tweak, remove some "bloatware"? Something happened to cause this. You might try using the Vista system restore to roll back to a point in time when it was still working. The Sony Notebook Utilities is what controls this on most models. What model do you have?
