Hello all! I have been looking for a large and powerful notebook with a Blu-Ray drive and HDMI out so that I can watch them at my GFs house. Today I purchased the VGN-AR730E/B. First impressions are great. Fast, beautiful screen, and the Blu-Ray playback is not extremely slow. However, when I hook it up to my 42" Panny plasma, which is 720P, there are black bars around all sides. The ones on top and bottom I could get used to, but there are black bars to the left and right of the Desktop when on the Plasma. I thought maybe it would be the T.V. so I tried it on my GFs 720p 32" LCD and they were present there as well.

Any suggestions on how I can turn this off? I may sound picky, but it definitly annoys the crap out of me, and if the black box will be around the desktop everytime I cam connected to a display, then I am taking the notebook back.

    Thanks so much!
    Shane A.

I tried them all, the only one that worked was 1176 x 664. I checked on Sony's website and this resolution is appearantly the correct one for 720P.

I just can not stand the black bars surrouding the image.

    Please help!

720p is either 1280x720 or 1368x768. The black bars are the result of you using too low of a resolution.
