I have an SSD drive from a TZ with a ZIF connector and I bought an external 1.8" ZIF hard drive enclosure that was recommended by |Sony| in another thread.

    However, I have two problems.

    1. The SSD drive is not wide enough to fit in the enclosure. Overall I don't think this is a showstopper, but I'm not sure whether it contributes to issue #2.

    2. When I insert the ZIF connector into the drive and plug it into my PC via a USB cable, the green power light on the drive enclosure end lights up, but my PC doesn't recognize the drive (another TZ runnng Vista Business). Since I couldn't get the drive to sit in the enclosure, I just have the drive and connector harness sitting out on my desk.

Any help would be appreciated as I really need to get some data off of this disk. Or if anyone knows of a service who does this sort of thing, please let me know.

If an external HDD appears to run but is not recognised then the problem may be insufficient power. Are you connecting to a notebook or a desktop? The latter usually have more generous power ratings for their USB ports. Alternatively you could try one of the splitter cables which draws power from a second USB port.
