I bought a vaio fz21e and I'm trying to install XP(currently i have vista) and everytime i boot from the XP cd i get and error. After i press Enter to start the installation, it says:
Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.
Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to
your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is
correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or
setup program. Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3.

You need chipset drivers to install XP on your machine. You can slipstreaming them in your Windows installation disc with nLite.
-
yes you will need to slipstream sata drivers into xp disc using nlite to enable recognition by xp, believe there are a number of threads on here explaining how to do in more depth

The FIRST thing you need to do is acquaint yourself with the search box at the top of every page in these forums. This same question has been asked and answered multiple times, in great detail including instructions on slipstreaming. By searching first, often time you can find your answer in seconds rather than having to wait for someone to respond.
